I may be getting a different truck (Pic related EDIT: Kinja’d). Turns out one of the track nuts I go with is selling his 2005 Silverado HD with Duramax (LLY engine). I’d sell my Ford to make room for the Chevy. Now the Chevy has 305K miles (not a typo), but it’s been maintained, and runs decently enough. Asking price is between $8K and $9K. So NPoCP?

Personally, I’d never buy anything with more than 200k miles.

I really just want to make sure that the transfer case pump hasn’t worn through the case, and that the transmission is fine and it doesn’t overheat.
Also that the steering is a bit tighter than my Ford. That’s very loose on center, and it gets annoying.

I wouldn’t trust a Duramax with that many miles. They are decently proven, but that’s still a bunch of miles on one. Plus, as much hate as Dodge gets for there front ends, the IFS in these is just as bad, if not worse. They weren’t meant to handle that much weight/power and when they fail, they fail spectacularly.
